I found
a great video on a ted talk about The first secret of great design and this was a talk
given by Tony Fadell. This video gave a good insight and was
broken down in a very simple way for it to be very understandable. The first
thing I took from this video is what is how a designer would look at the everyday
thing that resolves around our life on daily
and we always talk on how we can somewhat improve what it going on and I relate
towards this because I have worked towards something and became an second
nature but with us as designers we must think on how we can somewhat improve the
thing we have become way to use to. This talk is very interesting to watch
because it gives you off the impression of how a creative brain thinks the talk
gave a few examples of how creative people looked and had a brilliant idea of
wanting to improve stuff that become second nature towards other I think a great
example of great woman who goes by the name Mary Anderson who was the first person
to create the world’s first windshield wiper and this was an example that stop
out to me because the story was that the driver had stop and open to the door
to wipe out the snow and everyone around her took it as second nature and did
not think anything of it but it was her that had the brilliant idea of thinking
outside the box and designer the world’s first windshield wiper and I loved
this example because has a designer it is good to think with both our everyday
mind set but also your creative brain. The other things that you would take
from this amazing video are the tips given to us as designers and how we should
look broader at the project we are facing and how we can tackle the issue that
right in front of us and it is ok to take a step back to then come back and
improve the work that issue well another given was look closer and focus on
tiny details that we may not see and it is good to focus on the little problem before
it becomes a major issue. Great quote to finish off was try to see “the world the way it really is, not
the way we think it is”.
another
which I choose to work was by Rochelle king, she gave a brilliant talk that was
about The complex relationship between data and design in UX this was great to
watch and get some amazing insight into the ted talk. She went into different
way of how data is very useful in showing how people use the product at hand
also she gave a great example of what data also is and data is a repression and
a measurement of what real people do with the product. She gave a good example of
what designers may lack on which is asking themselves the right question like
how often a consumer would use their product in day also in a month and they
could collect that information and the data and they must have the mindset to understand
the information they get and with that data that can help and impower the decision
that the designer may choose along the way. She went onto talk about the
advantages of collect data, she gave a great example of a famous music company called
Spotify, the designers were think of switching from a light mode on their platform
towards the darker tone to bring out the importance of the content on the page such
as the music and also the artist but in order to make this work they knew the Importance
of data collection and they got a few of the consumers to then work with the
darker mode and taking back data to see where they could improve on and it seem
to work out great for them because the consumer data that were collected seemed
to love it. This talk for me is to highlight the importance of collecting data
and taking that data and improving with the data so the designer could stand out,
thought was similar to the company wanting to put play bottom on the picture
and others disagree and they tested it again and it seemed to had been pointless
to keep it there. A great quote I take from her Is “the experience we design equal
to the data we can and can’t collect on them”
